Technical Lead Engineer

Location: 100% remote within the continental United States

What you will do

• Lead the design and execution of complex, cross-team engineering initiatives.
• Define architectural standards, reference patterns, RFCs, and architecture decision records.
• Drive improvements in platform reliability, scalability, performance, and operational rigor.
• Lead technical design reviews, architectural decisions, production incident response, and post-incident learning.
• Partner with engineering managers, product, design, operations, executives, and business stakeholders on technical roadmaps.
• Mentor engineers, participate in technical hiring, and contribute hands-on code to high-impact components.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience and a proven record of leading complex, cross-team initiatives.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems, cloud platforms, or large-scale data systems.
• Strong programming skills in at least one major backend language, with excellent system design and architecture skills.
• Experience mentoring senior engineers and influencing engineering culture, standards, and technical direction.
• Must work as a full-time W2 employee in the continental United States; no new H1B sponsorship is available, although qualified H1B transfers are supported.

• Experience leading multi-year platform modernization initiatives.
• Public technical contributions such as talks, papers, or open-source software.
• Hands-on experience operating large-scale production systems.
• Experience building engineering organizations and platforms.
• Familiarity with FinOps and cost-aware engineering practices.
