Lead Platform Design & Integration Engineer – Special Programs (Aerospace)

Location: San Jose, California, United States. Travel up to 10% of the time.

Base pay: $138,200–$190,100 per year.

What you will do

• Lead vehicle-level integration and configuration design for prototype aerospace vehicles, including packaging and cross-discipline interfaces.
• Support rapid prototyping from concept configuration through detailed integration, build support, and testing.
• Set technical approaches, standards, and integration methods for vehicle-level work within Special Programs.
• Assess the technical feasibility of emerging concepts, RFPs, and mission requirements.
• Prepare technical documentation, trade studies, and analysis packages for design reviews and opportunity decisions.
• Collaborate with program leads, engineering teams, and government stakeholders on technical approaches and program constraints.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering; an advanced degree is a plus.
• Experience in vehicle-level configuration design and cross-discipline integration for aerospace platforms.
• Knowledge of interface control, configuration management, and whole-vehicle trade studies.
• Experience across the full development lifecycle, from concept through prototype, preferably in rapid-prototyping or advanced-programs environments.
• 8–12 years of relevant engineering experience or equivalent demonstrated experience, with the ability to work independently and take significant technical ownership.
• Must be a U.S. Person under ITAR/EAR and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.

• Advanced degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience evaluating early-stage concepts and contributing outside a core engineering discipline.
