Build Engineering Specialist (Aerospace)

Location: El Segundo, California, United States. The role requires travel to vendors and other hirify.global sites, flexible hours, and occasional weekend support. Applicants must be U.S. persons under ITAR requirements.

Annual salary: $80,000–$135,000 USD

What you will do

• Develop build methodologies, manufacturing specifications, and improved production processes based on industry standards and real-world data.
• Own assembly and manufacturing procedures for new and existing aerospace hardware.
• Lead design-for-manufacturability changes to part drawings and eliminate recurring build failures.
• Develop tooling, prototype new components, and support qualification hardware at the in-house R&D lab.
• Evaluate commercial manufacturing capabilities against developing capabilities in-house.
• Plan and execute capital equipment, machine, and facility layout upgrades while collaborating with engineering and production teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in aerospace, manufacturing, materials, mechanical engineering, or engineering physics.
• At least 1 year of engineering experience in manufacturing, design, testing, or development; internship and project team experience is applicable.
• Strong understanding of engineering first principles, including thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and solid mechanics.
• Experience or knowledge in design for manufacturability, GD&T, and technical communication across multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience with fluid, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, or structural assembly build and testing is relevant to the role.
• Must qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR, including U.S. citizenship, U.S. permanent residence, or protected-person status.

Nice to have

• Two or more years of professional aerospace or mechanical engineering experience.
• Experience with Python, MATLAB, Siemens NX, or a similar CAD package.
• Strong project management and collaborative problem-solving skills.
