TL;DR
Payload Integration Engineer II (Aerospace): Performing hands-on payload integration for Electron and HASTE launch vehicles with an accent on fit checks, dispenser integration, interface control documentation, and assembly testing. Focus on coordinating launch-site integration, resolving mechanical and electrical spacecraft interface needs, and supporting customers and multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; frequent travel to customer sites and launch sites worldwide, including New Zealand.

Base pay range: $100,000–$130,000 USD annually.

hirify.global is an end-to-end aerospace company building rockets, spacecraft, and critical subsystems, including the reusable Neutron launch vehicle.

What you will do

  • Perform hands-on payload integration activities, including fit checks, dispenser integration, and launch vehicle integration.
  • Support on-site integration planning and coordinate daily meetings during launch-site integration periods.
  • Develop and verify launch vehicle-to-spacecraft Interface Control Documentation.
  • Create and execute assembly, integration, and test instructions.
  • Support spacecraft customers by coordinating answers with internal technical staff.
  • Work with engineering teams on mechanical and electrical design needs driven by spacecraft mission requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or technical discipline and at least 2 years of applicable experience.
  • Previous launch vehicle or space hardware integration experience.
  • Experience in spacecraft or launch vehicle integration, systems engineering, or electrical/mechanical systems.
  • Ability to understand technical constraints related to payload integration and address technical challenges with internal and external customers.
  • Advanced presentation and technical writing skills.
  • Active U.S. Government Secret or TS/SCI security clearance and eligibility to work in U.S. offices under ITAR requirements.

Nice to have

  • Mechanical, electrical, or aerospace degree.
  • Experience with CubeSats, SmallSats, or other small space payloads.
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Experience performing electrical and mechanical testing.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
