Staff Engineer, Integration (Aerospace)

Location: On-site in Washington, D.C. or San Diego, California; approximately 50% travel to customer, test, and operational sites may be required.

Salary: $144,400–$216,600 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular employees.

What you will do

• Install, integrate, configure, and support camera pods, imaging sensors, onboard processing hardware, and electronic assemblies on crewed and uncrewed aircraft.
• Load, update, and validate software releases while following release instructions and configuration-control procedures.
• Perform system bring-up, functional checkout, acceptance testing, and verification of sensor, compute, power, network, and aircraft interfaces.
• Maintain hardware and software configuration records, inventory, serial numbers, service history, spares, and returned-material activity.
• Diagnose software, electrical, network, sensor, and mechanical integration issues using logs, diagnostics, test equipment, drawings, and controlled troubleshooting methods.
• Support customer deployments, demonstrations, exercises, evaluations, training, field service, and technical issue resolution.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in field service, aerospace integration, electronics, avionics, mechatronics, or a related technical discipline with a bachelor's or associate's degree, or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands-on experience installing, integrating, maintaining, or troubleshooting electro-mechanical systems, electronic assemblies, sensors, computing hardware, or airborne payloads.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, mechanical and installation drawings, pinouts, work instructions, and technical manuals.
• Experience with Linux and Windows systems, command-line tools, software deployment, networking, log collection, digital multimeters, continuity testing, connector inspection, and basic wiring work.
• Strong documentation, configuration tracking, customer communication, organization, and teamwork skills, with willingness to work outside standard hours when required.
• Ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience in aerospace, defense, robotics, mission-critical equipment, electro-optical or infrared imaging, camera systems, sensor pods, or airborne mission payloads.
• Experience with aviation or military wiring practices, cable and connector assembly, soldering, crimping, or IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.
• Experience with oscilloscopes, power supplies, network analyzers, serial interfaces, Ethernet, CAN, configuration-management, asset-management, ERP, PLM, or maintenance-tracking systems.
• Experience providing customer training, technical demonstrations, service documentation, and remote or on-site technical support.
