Contracts Counsel (Medical Devices)

Location: Hybrid, Alameda, California, United States; willingness and ability to work on site required, with 5–10% business travel.

Salary: $175,000–$255,000 per year.

What you will do

• Draft, review, and negotiate NDAs, SaaS and managed services agreements, software licenses, data processing agreements, consulting agreements, vendor agreements, and other commercial contracts.
• Provide pragmatic, business-oriented legal advice to management and stakeholders across Sales and Marketing, Regulatory, IT, Operations, Quality, and Finance.
• Advise on contracting and compliance with applicable laws related to healthcare and life sciences operations.
• Address US and international data privacy and security matters.
• Improve contract templates and playbooks.
• Select, manage, train, and develop staff; establish objectives, assign work, and provide performance feedback and development plans.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and J.D., with 3+ years of relevant legal experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Bar membership in California or membership in another state’s bar with the ability to obtain registered in-house counsel status.
• Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• High accuracy and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize assignments while handling multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability and willingness to work on site in a general office environment.
• Ability to comply with the Company’s Quality Management System and applicable domestic and global quality, security, privacy, and compliance regulations, standards, and procedures.
• Ability to move between buildings and floors, remain stationary and use standard office equipment for extended periods, access office supplies, read and prepare emails and documents, and communicate accurate information with employees at all levels.

Nice to have

• Previous experience in the life sciences industry is strongly preferred.
• Experience in medical devices, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, or another regulated industry is desired.
