TL;DR

What you will do

  • Develop and review HVAC calculations, airflow diagrams, equipment specifications, and duct layouts.
  • Support systems involving nuclear ventilation, confinement, process exhaust, and rotating equipment.
  • Evaluate ventilation performance, pressure relationships, heat loads, and system reliability.
  • Review vendor submittals for fans, heat exchangers, filtration equipment, and instrumentation.
  • Coordinate design interfaces with process, piping, electrical, and safety basis teams.
  • Support hazard reviews, constructability assessments, and commissioning planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or architectural engineering or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of HVAC engineering experience in nuclear, chemical, or high-hazard industrial facilities.
  • Proficiency in interpreting HVAC drawings, P&IDs, and safety requirements.
  • US citizenship is required due to government contract and security clearance mandates.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required site access and security clearances.

Nice to have

  • Experience with nuclear fuel facilities, hot cells, gloveboxes, and HEPA filtration.
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE, SMACNA, ASME, and DOE nuclear ventilation standards.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Active DOE L or Q clearance.
