Assistant General Counsel (Fintech): Providing end-to-end legal counseling on retail cryptocurrency products and services with an accent on regulatory compliance and product development. Location: Must be based in Toronto, Canada, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.

Salary: $144,500 – $170,000 CAD

What you will do

• Provide end-to-end legal counseling on retail cryptocurrency products and services.
• Identify and assess legal and regulatory risks while finding creative mitigation strategies.
• Engage directly with Canadian securities regulators and self-regulatory organizations.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders and outside counsel to deliver timely, high-quality advice.
• Advise on legal and regulatory developments related to cryptocurrency in Canada.
• Partner with product and compliance teams to facilitate product launches and feature development.

Requirements

• J.D. degree from an accredited Canadian law school.
• Membership in at least one Canadian province or territory bar in good standing.
• 7+ years of relevant experience at a law firm, government agency, or in the fintech/financial services sector.
• Experience with legal requirements for crypto, securities, derivatives, or money transmission.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex information to non-legal audiences.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a proactive, business-partner mindset.
