Location: Must be based in Canada (Remote-friendly with optional office access in Montreal and Toronto).
Salary: 150,000 - 220,000 CAD

What you will do
- Partner with Product and Compliance teams to design and launch new financial products while ensuring regulatory alignment.
- Advise on legal matters including securities, AML/ATF, payments, and consumer protection.
- Lead regulatory initiatives, including audits, licensing, and policy development.
- Provide practical, business-oriented advice to leadership to help navigate ambiguity.
- Identify opportunities to leverage AI and automation to improve legal workflows.
- Support corporate governance, commercial agreements, and strategic projects.
Requirements
- Canadian-qualified lawyer with 5+ years of experience.
- Experience in fintech, payments, financial services, or crypto.
- Ability to operate independently in a lean team and make decisions with incomplete information.
- Strong business-oriented legal judgment and ability to translate complex issues for non-legal stakeholders.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Must be based in Canada.
Nice to have
- Experience working in both law firms and in-house legal teams.
- Background in a startup or scaleup environment.
- Familiarity with Bitcoin, securities, and regulated financial products.
- Experience using AI and lightweight tooling for legal efficiency.
