Lead QA Engineer

What you will do

• Define and execute QA strategy for end-to-end quality across the SaaS platform.
• Stay hands-on with testing, release readiness, and production validation after deployments.
• Drive exploratory and risk-based testing, including release Go/No-Go decisions.
• Own production quality follow-up and lead root cause analysis to prevent recurring issues.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Support on bug triage, quality metrics, and embedding quality across the SDLC.
• Build, mentor, and grow a QA team while balancing automation, manual testing, AI-assisted testing, and production monitoring.

Requirements

• 5+ years of QA experience in a software environment, including leading QA initiatives and teams.
• Strong hands-on experience with exploratory testing, API testing, SQL, Jira, and modern QA tooling.
• Experience working with CI/CD environments and making pragmatic automation vs. manual testing decisions.
• Confident communicator who can challenge stakeholders and influence engineering decisions, including release readiness judgments.
• Comfortable using AI tools to improve testing, bug analysis, and quality processes with sound engineering judgment.
• Currently residing within commuting distance of Leiden.

Nice to have

• Experience working on a SaaS platform.
• Familiarity with e-commerce / online marketplaces.
• Experience using JavaScript for automation testing.
