Backend Engineer (AI)

Location: Must be based in Asia (Work-from-home arrangement)

What you will do

• Build and improve core components of the Agent Runtime, including intent routing, query rewriting, RAG, and multi-step agent workflows.
• Design and optimize Tool Calling capabilities and integration with web search, market data, and internal services.
• Develop evaluation datasets and harnesses to measure routing accuracy, answer quality, and agent reliability.
• Improve system observability and reliability through tracing, metrics, logging, and production monitoring.
• Debug issues across asynchronous services and agent pipelines using mocked LLM responses.
• Collaborate with Backend, Data Science, and Algorithm engineers to move AI capabilities from prototype to production.

Requirements

• Must be a current university student or recent graduate.
• Strong Python programming skills and solid software engineering fundamentals.
• Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and problem solving.
• Hands-on experience with LLM applications or Agent systems through research, coursework, or projects.
• Familiarity with RAG, Tool Calling, Function Calling, Prompting, and LLM evaluation.
• Ability to work with real codebases, APIs, asynchronous services, and CI/CD.

Nice to have

• Experience with agent frameworks such as LangGraph, LangChain, AgentScope, or LlamaIndex.
• Knowledge of MCP, Tool ecosystems, or Agent Runtime.
• Experience building LLM testing infrastructure or benchmark tools.
• Familiarity with vector search, embeddings, or LLM observability.
• Experience with Redis, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud-native systems.
• Exposure to LLM security, guardrails, and prompt-injection defense.
