AI Developer Platform Engineer

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco, Montreal, New York, Seattle, or Toronto

Salary: $165,000–$330,000 per year plus equity

What you will do

• Own the internal AI developer platform from architecture and implementation through rollout, operation, and measurement.
• Integrate AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex with the company monorepo.
• Build context infrastructure, MCP servers, shared skills, subagents, hooks, and sandboxed environments for engineering workflows.
• Create templates and self-service frameworks that let engineers build agents without deep LLM expertise.
• Develop evaluation harnesses and instrumentation to measure AI-assisted development, adoption, cycle time, review latency, and change failure rates.
• Implement agent workflows for code review, test generation, incident context, migrations, refactoring, and codebase questions, with permissions, secrets handling, audit trails, and cost controls.

Requirements

• 4+ years of relevant industry experience building and enabling AI-native software development workflows.
• Strong proficiency in Python and/or Go for building tools used daily by other engineers.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs and agent frameworks, including tool calling, MCP, context management, orchestration, and failure handling.
• Experience shipping an agentic product or workflow used by real people.
• Experience with developer tooling, CI/CD, and Kubernetes/Docker fundamentals.
• Excellent written English communication and comfort working in an ambiguous, rapidly changing space.

Nice to have

• Deep personal fluency with AI coding tools and strong opinions about their limitations.
• Experience building internal platforms focused on developer adoption, self-service, and good defaults.
