Managing Consultant - Retail Performance Improvement

Location: Boston, MA; hybrid work arrangement; ability to travel to clients up to 80%; candidates must have legal right to work in the U.S. without current or future company sponsorship.

Salary: $120,000–$185,000 per year, plus potential eligibility for a discretionary annual incentive program.

What you will do

• Collaborate with the Retail Performance Improvement team and client personnel to achieve engagement objectives.
• Perform financial modeling and analysis, operations and service strategy development, revenue growth analysis, and operational process and technology optimization.
• Analyze store labor planning, organizational design, assortment and inventory performance, working capital, and financial performance.
• Manage junior team members across multiple engagement tasks, including modeling and client presentations.
• Lead the preparation of reports, written analyses, presentations, and other client deliverables.
• Develop and lead innovative retail service offerings for retail and consumer clients.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in corporate or management consulting within the retail industry.
• Experience in a retail, direct-to-consumer, or consumer goods environment, or previous consulting experience with similar clients.
• Expertise in at least one of the following: direct sourcing, product-to-market, consumer analytics, digital experience, marketing, personalization, digital commerce, back-office operations, distribution and transportation, store and omnichannel operations, or indirect procurement.
• Experience developing and managing financial and operational analyses and assisting with implementing changes based on findings.
• Experience improving working capital and financial performance using systems, tools, and bridge solutions.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, accounting or finance, management, engineering, economics, retail management, supply chain, or a related field.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to interact with junior and senior team members, senior management, stakeholders, and other professionals.
• Expertise in financial modeling and analysis, particularly in Excel; ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative inputs and solve complex issues.
• Ability to manage and analyze large volumes of financial and operational data; intellectual curiosity, self-motivation, and ability to learn quickly.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or MBA.
• Experience with Access, Alteryx, Tableau, SQL, or Python.
