What you will do

• Serve as the primary legal expert on the Commodity Exchange Act (CEA) and NFA Rules, advising the firm on licensed obligations.
• Lead the end-to-end strategy for obtaining and maintaining regulatory licenses and managing the registration lifecycle.
• Draft and negotiate complex margin lending agreements and specialized regulatory documents, including ISDA/CSA documentation.
• Partner with Trading, Operations, Risk, and Engineering teams to embed CFTC/NFA compliance requirements into platform architecture.
• Lead the legal response to regulatory inquiries and NFA examinations, managing document production and strategic communication.
• Monitor shifts in CFTC mandates and NFA notices to advise the executive team on business strategy pivots.

Requirements

• J.D. degree with a focus on financial services, commodities, or corporate law.
• 4+ years of legal practice, with 3+ years specifically focused on CFTC and NFA regulatory matters.
• Deep knowledge of the Commodity Exchange Act (CEA) and the Dodd-Frank Act (Title VII).
• Technical proficiency in derivatives, including OTC products and margin lending.
• Experience handling ISDA/CSA documentation or clearing agreements.
• Ability to complete a mandatory in-person onboarding process.

• Previous in-house legal experience at a fintech firm, hedge fund, or major financial institution.
