Deputy General Counsel, Regulatory & Litigation (Crypto)

Location: San Francisco, California, in person

Salary: $297,500–$350,000 per year, plus a long-term incentive package

What you will do

• Lead global regulatory strategy across financial services, crypto-assets, blockchain, digital identity, consumer protection, payments, AI, and technology regulation.
• Advise executive leadership on complex regulatory, litigation, business, and reputational risks.
• Manage regulatory inquiries, examinations, investigations, enforcement actions, litigation, arbitrations, and other high-risk disputes across multiple jurisdictions.
• Direct outside counsel, litigation budgets, crisis responses, and legal strategies through resolution.
• Partner with Product, Policy, Communications, Compliance, Trust & Safety, Privacy, Employment, and Market Operations teams.
• Build and mentor the Regulatory and Litigation legal team and establish scalable legal and compliance operations.

Requirements

• 10–15+ years of experience in regulatory, litigation, investigations, or enforcement law at a leading law firm, government agency, or senior in-house role.
• Deep regulatory and/or litigation experience in financial services, with sufficient breadth across crypto-assets, blockchain, digital identity, consumer protection, and emerging technologies.
• Experience managing complex litigation, regulatory examinations, government investigations, or enforcement matters across multiple jurisdictions.
• Strong executive advisory, business judgment, communication, and crisis-management skills.
• Working knowledge of U.S. employment law and general fluency in data privacy laws and frameworks.
• Juris Doctor from a top-tier law school, membership in at least one U.S. state bar, and ability to work in person from San Francisco, California.
