Senior Manager, Compliance Program & Governance (Fintech)

Location: Chicago, US; based in or willing to relocate to Chicago, with office attendance four days per week

Salary: $180,000–$210,000 USD base salary per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Own the policy, SOP, and control framework across the US, Canada, EU, and future jurisdictions, including approvals, attestations, refresh cycles, and policy exceptions.
• Build and operate an independent second-line testing and monitoring program for BSA/AML controls, including CIP, KYC, CDD, and EDD testing calendars, sampling, and documentation.
• Manage sponsor bank and payment partner requirements, onboarding due diligence responses, escalation guidance, and reporting obligations.
• Own regulatory change intake for FinCEN, FINTRAC, EU AMLD, MiCA, sponsor banks, and card schemes, assigning owners and driving execution through closure.
• Lead audit and examination readiness, maintain evidence libraries and response playbooks, and drive findings and risk-register items to documented closure.
• Design governance cadences, board-level reporting, compliance tooling requirements, rollout plans, acceptance criteria, and training in partnership with Product and Engineering.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of experience in compliance, risk, audit, consulting, or related program management, including at least three years in fintech, payments, startups, or banking.
• Experience building or standing up compliance or risk programs in high-growth environments.
• Strong project management, prioritization, tracking, escalation, and stakeholder accountability skills.
• Compliance generalist fluency, strong judgment on material risk, and the ability to coordinate work across Underwriting, AML, Legal, Engineering, and Operations.
• Based in or willing to relocate to Chicago; the role requires working in the office four days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting regulatory examinations or sponsor bank audits as a respondent.
• Experience with multi-jurisdictional programs across the US, Canada, and EU.
• Experience designing or executing second-line testing for BSA/AML or equivalent AML regimes.
• CAMS, CRCM, CFE, or equivalent certification.
