Veterinary Assistant (Veterinary Care)

What you will do

• Support the veterinary practice team and deliver competent clinical support and customer service.
• Identify canine and feline vaccines, preventatives, disease risks, and vaccine reactions.
• Prepare vaccines, injections, IV bags, subcutaneous fluids, medication labels, and prescriptions.
• Perform laboratory diagnostics, including urine specific gravity, fecal floats, cytology slides, CBC/Chem equipment, and centrifuge preparation.
• Restrain patients, assist with blood draws, nail trims, diagnostic radiographs, and pre- and post-operative care.
• Maintain clean workspaces, follow SOPs and standards of care, support inventory needs, and complete required training.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience as a Veterinary Assistant in a practice.
• Ability to complete the Veterinary Assistant skills checklist.
• Completion of an accredited veterinary assistant program is preferred.
• Empathy, compassion, strong communication, observation, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and potentially work weekends or travel.
• Ability to stand or walk for up to 80% of a shift and frequently lift up to 70 pounds with a team lift.
