What you will do

• Own the editorial programming strategy across the website, mobile web, app, and push notifications.
• Lead the push notification function, overseeing strategy, audience targeting, and breaking-news protocols.
• Manage, mentor, and develop an editorial team across multiple time zones to foster a high-performance culture.
• Utilize analytics tools like Chartbeat and Google Discover to drive real-time decisions and long-term strategy.
• Partner with product and engineering to shape the roadmap for programming tools and push capabilities.
• Establish frameworks for leveraging AI tools to accelerate headline optimization and story packaging.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in digital news, journalism, or audience-facing editorial leadership.
• 7+ years of direct people management experience.
• Proven news judgment in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments during major breaking news events.
• Strong expertise in homepage editing, SEO best practices, and push notification strategy.
• Experience collaborating with product and engineering on CMS tools and editorial workflows.
• Willingness and ability to support a 24/7 news operation, including occasional weekends and off-hours.
