Design Engineer (Aerospace/Defense)

Location: Chandler, Arizona, United States; onsite role. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or otherwise meet U.S. Government export-control requirements.

Salary: $66,900.00–$124,300.00 per year.

What you will do

• Sustain, develop, and improve mechanical designs for ordnance products from concept through production and sustainment.
• Perform engineering analyses and create engineering documentation, drawings, and bills of material.
• Support prototype, qualification, production, and sustainment engineering activities.
• Provide daily engineering support to Manufacturing and Quality in a hands-on environment.
• Lead root-cause investigations, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional Integrated Product Teams and support proposals and technical evaluations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering preferred; aerospace engineering or another engineering discipline may also be considered.
• Typically 3+ years of relevant mechanical and/or ordnance design experience; candidates with less experience and strong technical aptitude may be considered.
• Experience creating and interpreting engineering drawings and applying GD&T.
• Experience using 3D CAD software; SolidWorks is preferred, while equivalent CAD platforms are acceptable.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional manufacturing environment.
• Must satisfy U.S. Government export-control requirements; ongoing employment depends on obtaining any required government authorizations.

Nice to have

• Aerospace or defense industry experience and manufacturing support experience.
• Experience with DOE, DFMA, FMEA, failure analysis, or engineering simulation.
• ANSYS or SolidWorks CAE simulation experience.
• Configuration management systems experience, especially Oracle Agile PLM.
• Machine shop or fabrication experience.
