What you will do

• Manage supplier relationships and performance for mechanical/electro-mechanical components (e.g., batteries, speakers, molded plastics, sub-assemblies).
• Develop longer-range supply strategies and plans that meet business requirements and deliver significant value.
• Drive cost ownership for commodities, including cost improvement ideation, resource allocation support, and product lifecycle data management (Propel).
• Negotiate and manage part costs (including NRE) and ensure component assurance and compliance to product specifications and legal standards.
• Lead supplier selection and qualification processes for new suppliers (RFI/RFQ/RFP), including assessments, audits, and scoring/scorecards.
• Partner cross-functionally to improve ordering/buffering, leverage external manufacturing capabilities, and mitigate supply risk via geo-diversification and multi-source strategies.

Requirements

• 5+ years managing outsourced manufacturing, Tier 2 suppliers, and development of consumer electronics.
• Experience with contracts and contract negotiations.
• Demonstrated ability to improve supply chain and supplier performance using cost models and performance metrics.
• Experience working with Asian manufacturers and ability to travel internationally up to 15%.
• Bachelor’s degree in ME, EE, IE, Business, or Supply Chain Management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to build relationships up to the executive level.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial Engineering or MBA.
• Ability to speak/read Mandarin/Chinese.
• Strong understanding of geo-political and global trade influences within Asia.
