TL;DR
Global Supply Manager, Mechanical (Aerospace): Defining and implementing procurement strategies for mechanical spacecraft hardware, including machined parts, mechanisms, composites, COPVs, and raw materials, with an accent on supplier strategy, BOM management, and delivery against cost, schedule, and quality targets. Focus on managing the full supplier lifecycle, negotiating contracts, tracking build milestones, and maintaining performance metrics across a high-volume satellite manufacturing program.

Location: Los Angeles, CA, United States. The role involves travel up to 25% and requires lifting and carrying parts or equipment up to 25 lbs. unassisted.

Salary: $140,000–$175,000 annually, plus equity.

What you will do

  • Define sourcing strategies for mechanical commodities, including machined parts, mechanisms, composites, COPVs, and raw materials.
  • Manage suppliers from capability identification and onboarding through quoting, purchase orders, production milestones, and delivery.
  • Negotiate supplier contracts to achieve cost, schedule, and quality targets.
  • Create supplier scorecards and performance metrics for the mechanical supply chain.
  • Partner with engineering, quality, production, finance, and other internal stakeholders to align procurement strategies with mission requirements.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing transactions, open orders, and materials requirements planning while developing strategic supplier relationships.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of supply chain management or engineering experience in the aerospace industry.
  • At least 3 years of experience reading mechanical drawings and working with structures and mechanisms hardware.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing Bills of Materials for mechanical assemblies.
  • Experience managing mechanical suppliers in a fast-paced environment and understanding inventory management and storage for mechanical hardware.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, production, and finance.
  • Must be a U.S. Person under ITAR or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export-control license.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, finance, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or mathematics.
  • Experience procuring pressurized components and solar array materials.
  • Experience in new product introduction and interpreting technical engineering drawings.
