Location: Must be based in or able to relocate to Hinxton, Cambridgeshire, UK. Hybrid working patterns are available.

Salary: £3,452.05–£3,861.91 per month (after tax, excluding benefits).

What you will do

• Design and implement APIs for the ingestion, management, and distribution of human genetic data.
• Develop new metadata and submission APIs to support data validation and integration.
• Collaborate on system architecture, including secure file distribution and message broker integration.
• Enhance deployment pipelines using GitLab CI/CD and Kubernetes.
• Work closely with operations teams to ensure service reliability and scalability.
• Engage with international collaborators to contribute to global genomics data standards.

Requirements

• Must be based in or open to immediate relocation to the UK.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum 4 years of professional experience in Java and Spring Boot.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL.
• Experience working in Agile software development teams.
• Willingness to learn about the biological and biomedical data domain.

Nice to have

• Experience with distributed systems and Unix/Linux environments.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and CI/CD practices.
• Experience with message queues like RabbitMQ or Kafka.
• Knowledge of web frameworks such as React or Vaadin.
• Familiarity with Python scripting.
