Senior Software Engineer (Payments)

Location: Hybrid role requiring 3 days per week at the London office in Shoreditch. Work from anywhere is available for up to 45 calendar days per year.

hirify.global provides digital payment infrastructure and an API for instant global payouts to cards, wallets, bank accounts, and gift cards.

What you will do

• Architect, implement, and deploy software services and features end to end.
• Build scalable Java and Kotlin services for reliable, high-throughput money movement.
• Develop event-driven microservices running in containers on AWS and EKS.
• Improve the responsiveness and performance of web services and API-heavy systems.
• Own technology and domain-specific problems across the payments platform.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead technical interviews.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in Java or Kotlin, with experience developing new services and features end to end.
• Experience building applications with event-driven architectures.
• Familiarity with containerization such as EKS or similar technologies.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms, ideally AWS, and working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Ability to independently own the design and architecture of large-scale systems and API-heavy software.
• Experience promoting engineering best practices, mentoring engineers, and improving development processes.

Nice to have

• Deep experience with Java 17+, Spring Boot, Spring REST, Spring Data, and circuit-breaker resilience patterns.
• Experience with Kafka, EventBridge, SNS, or SQS.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes tooling such as Helm and infrastructure as code with Terraform.
• Experience in the payments domain.
