Senior Field Auto Appraiser (San Joaquin/Merced Counties)

Location: San Joaquin and Merced Counties, California; locations include Merced and Modesto. Field inspections and travel may be required.

Salary: $40.00–$45.00 hourly.

What you will do

• Inspect and evaluate physical vehicle damage in the field or virtually for first- and third-party claims.
• Prepare detailed damage reports and repair-cost estimates using licensed appraisal software.
• Present estimates, negotiate agreed prices and settlements with repair facilities, body shops, tow yards and storage facilities.
• Research vehicle and parts market values to determine total-loss settlements.
• Photograph damage, document findings, conduct re-inspections and authorize supplemental repairs when needed.
• Communicate with clients throughout the repair process, maintain claim documentation and support the onboarding of new team members.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in the Property and Casualty insurance industry.
• 10+ years of experience with auto vehicle estimating, all types of vehicle damage claims and repairs, and total losses, including complex repairs with little to no management oversight.
• Clear understanding of insurance industry practices, standards and terminology.
• Ability to assist Material Damage leadership with complex and difficult claims and negotiations.
• Ability to pass a background check with the anticipated goal of acquiring and maintaining a current Independent Adjuster License with the Department of Insurance.
• Disciplined approach, strong personal organization, sound decision-making and analytical skills.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills; ability to develop effective relationships with staff, clients and shops.
• Ability to work cohesively with company partners and staff and represent the company professionally.
• Regular and predictable punctuality and attendance; ability to work mandatory overtime when required.
• Ability to perform typing, repetitive fine-motor activities, grasping, stooping, reaching, frequent lifting of objects under 10 pounds, occasional climbing and close-range work with small print.
