Damage in Transit APD Appraiser - General Motors Insurance

Location: United States (Remote); the role is 100% remote.

Salary: $52,000–$75,000 per year, plus performance-based incentive eligibility.

What you will do

• Provide claims service to policyholders and third-party customers through multiple communication channels.
• Adjust low- to moderately complex auto damage claims virtually.
• Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and document claim settlements, including total-loss claims.
• Create and review estimates, supplements, photographs, and supporting documents for accuracy and compliance.
• Coordinate with auto body shops, vendors, and internal partners to verify damage and resolve repairs.
• Support workload surges and catastrophe operations while using claims technology and AI-enabled tools.

Requirements

• 0–2 years of auto claims experience writing estimates and total-loss evaluations.
• 0–2 years of experience using CCC Portal or CCC estimating software.
• Moderate knowledge of automobile parts, repair techniques, vehicle construction, and damage appraisal.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, decision-making, written, and verbal communication skills.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; ability to work across multiple systems in a Windows environment.
• Ability to use AI tools and evaluate their outputs for accuracy, compliance, bias, ethics, and data protection.

Nice to have

• Two years of collision and/or appraisal experience.
• Property and Casualty claims-handling experience.
• Three or more years of customer service experience.
• Insurance Adjuster License or I-CAR ProLevel 1 Designation.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
