Embedded Software Engineer (Embedded Linux)

Location: Carlsbad, California, USA; hybrid work with most office-based roles onsite three days per week.

Salary: $97,500–$143,000 per year, with possible additional compensation depending on the position.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, debug, and deliver embedded software for digital audio and consumer electronics products.
• Implement software using embedded processors, embedded Linux, real-time operating systems, build systems, and network architectures.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum planning, technical design, code reviews, unit and integration testing, and defect resolution.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts and other engineers to define requirements, develop solutions, and reuse code and designs.
• Analyze existing software, troubleshoot reported issues, and recommend development process improvements and tools.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with embedded systems.
• 3+ years of experience with C, C++11 or later, version control systems such as SVN or Git, and Linux development environments.
• 2+ years of experience with Bash, Perl, Python, or similar scripting languages; Buildroot or Yocto; and embedded real-time operating systems.
• Experience with embedded development tools and all phases of the software development lifecycle.
• BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math, Physics, or an equivalent technical discipline.
• Fluent English and eligibility to work in the USA are required; willingness to travel and successful completion of a post-offer background investigation and drug screen are also required.

Nice to have

• Consumer electronics or audio development experience.
• Multi-core firmware design, inter-processor communications, or Linux kernel development experience.
• Experience with Bugzilla, Jira, or similar defect tracking systems.
• Knowledge of I2C, SPI, UART, USB, Ethernet, HDMI, and other peripheral interfaces.
• Hands-on experience with IDEs, emulators, analyzers, oscilloscopes, and real-time debugging.
