Embedded Software Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Fremont, California, United States. Work arrangements may include a mix of in-office and remote work depending on the role and business needs. Travel expectation is 20%.

Base salary: $110,621.72–$149,664.68 USD annually, plus eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Design and develop embedded software for precision motion control, sensor integration, mathematical algorithms, and wafer-handling systems.
• Implement control logic for multiple devices to support safe and reliable wafer handling.
• Diagnose customer issues, perform root-cause analysis, and deliver workarounds and long-term fixes.
• Apply embedded software engineering best practices to improve scalability, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate machine vision and machine learning into embedded systems.
• Contribute to project planning, technical presentations, documentation, and cross-functional issue resolution when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering with 4+ years of software development experience, or a master’s degree with 2+ years of experience.
• Experience developing embedded software for complex real-time systems involving control theory, robots, and device integration.
• Proficiency in C++14/17, POSIX and ANSI-compliant real-time operating systems, and microcontroller units.
• Experience with robotics, motion control, PID loops, DC servo motors, BLDC motors, stepper motors, and multithreading.
• Experience with Linux, Python scripting, bootloaders, memory management, UML, object-oriented analysis and design, and state machines.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills and experience with debugging tools, oscilloscopes, electrical schematics, and root-cause analysis methods.

Nice to have

• Experience with C#/.NET.
• Previous experience in the semiconductor or semiconductor equipment industry.
