Senior/Staff Embedded Engineer (Embedded Linux/MedTech)

What you will do

• Architect, build, and maintain production-ready Yocto/OpenEmbedded distributions for the Ezurio Nitrogen95 SMARC platform and NXP i.MX 95 family.
• Design and implement C, C++, and Python system applications, background services, and IPC mechanisms.
• Configure board support packages, device trees, drivers, and peripheral interfaces including PCIe, CAN, USB, Ethernet, WiFi, and Bluetooth.
• Optimize the kernel, boot process, resource management, and hardware acceleration using the i.MX 95 NPU, GPU, and image-processing pipeline.
• Collaborate with Systems, Hardware, Quality, Product Management, external BSP vendors, and electrical engineering teams to deliver reliable firmware.
• Own development, testing, and documentation for embedded projects.

Requirements

• 6–10+ years of experience in Embedded Linux development, Yocto layer management, and system-level firmware architecture.
• Deep expertise with Yocto layers, BitBake recipes, device-tree modifications, and custom image configurations.
• Proficiency in C, C++, and Python for system programming and automation.
• Experience integrating WiFi/Bluetooth modules, IoT communications, and SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, and Ethernet buses.
• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field; graduate education preferred.
• Strong analytical, detail-oriented, and collaborative working style.

Nice to have

• Experience with embedded GUI frameworks such as Qt or LVGL, or with DSP and data pipelines.
• Experience designing sensor-based systems and reading hardware schematics.
• PCB design or signal-routing familiarity.
• MedTech, medical-device, or other safety-critical experience subject to strict quality and regulatory standards.
