What you will do

• Design and maintain plant-level control logic (PPC, EMS) for utility-scale solar PV and BESS facilities using IEC-61131-3 environments.
• Develop control strategies for active/reactive power control, frequency response, and state-of-charge management.
• Validate controller models using PSS/E and PSCAD/EMTDC to resolve design issues before field implementation.
• Lead factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT), including setpoint verification and SCADA communications checkout.
• Ensure compliance with IEEE 1547, IEEE 2800, and NERC requirements.
• Provide technical guidance, design reviews, and coaching to junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of controls engineering experience with utility-scale solar PV and/or BESS facilities.
• Proficiency in IEC-61131-3 logic development (Codesys, AcSELerator, Beckhoff TwinCAT, or equivalent).
• Working knowledge of PSS/E or PSCAD for controller-level modeling.
• Experience with communication protocols: Modbus, DNP3, and IEC 61850.
• Must be based in the US.

Nice to have

• HIL testing experience with RTDS, OPAL-RT, or Speedgoat.
• MATLAB/Simulink for control modeling or algorithm prototyping.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Experience with Emerson Ovation, ABB Ability, or Schweitzer SEL platforms.
• Familiarity with OT/ICS cybersecurity frameworks (IEC 62443, NERC CIP).
