What you will do

• Lead the design, evaluation, and testing of cryogenic systems to improve performance, reliability, and serviceability.
• Conduct complex root cause analyses and implement corrective actions for operational issues across production fleets.
• Develop engineering solutions spanning mechanical, cryogenic, vacuum, thermal, and system control disciplines.
• Collaborate with the Service team to support installation, commissioning, and field issue resolution.
• Maintain comprehensive engineering documentation, including specifications, test plans, and risk assessments.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead technical projects from initial concept through to implementation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or Physics.
• 5+ years of professional experience with complex cryogenic systems, dilution refrigerators, or ultra-low temperature systems.
• Strong understanding of thermal systems, high vacuum systems, and mechanical design.
• Experience troubleshooting complex electro-mechanical systems using structured engineering methodologies.
• Ability to participate in a rotating on-call schedule with flexibility for work outside regular business hours.
• Ability to travel up to 10% to customer sites across North America and Europe.

Nice to have

• Experience specifically with millikelvin cryogenic systems or quantum computing hardware.
• Proficiency in FEA, thermal modelling, or cryogenic system simulation.
• Eligible registration as an EIT or P.Eng. with EGBC.
• Experience contributing to patents or other intellectual property.
