Service Engineer II (Quantum Computing)

Location: Must be based in Burnaby, BC, Canada. This role requires occasional travel (approx. 10%) to customer sites in North America and Europe.

Salary: 89,000 - 122,000 CAD per year

What you will do

• Participate in system builds, installations, upgrades, and maintenance of quantum computing hardware.
• Troubleshoot and repair cryogenic and electromechanical systems in both lab and field environments.
• Collaborate with R&D teams to enhance system design, reliability, and serviceability.
• Develop and maintain service procedures, troubleshooting documentation, and incident response processes.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, partners, and facility personnel.
• Support production systems through participation in an on-call rotation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years of hands-on experience supporting complex multidisciplinary electromechanical systems.
• Strong foundation in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and electromechanical systems.
• Proficiency in scripting or programming languages such as Python or C/C++.
• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada and eligible for U.S. work authorization for temporary travel.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances.

Nice to have

• Experience with cryogenic and/or high-vacuum systems.
• Understanding of networking protocols, IT infrastructure, and Linux/UNIX.
• Experience with P&IDs or fluid control systems.
• Current or eligible registration as an EIT or P.Eng. with EGBC.
