Engineering Manager (Kotlin Multiplatform, Python, Java)

Location: Hybrid (Austin, Chicago, DC, or NYC). In-office attendance required Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.

Salary: $185,000–$215,000 base + equity + benefits

What you will do

• Create a safe, collaborative environment and operate with a first-team mindset to improve execution across the organization.
• Define and maintain team domain boundaries across authentication, event architecture, user research/analytical workflows, internal mobile tooling, app security support, mobile FinOps, and cross-team repos.
• Champion system-level quality by addressing gaps in reliability, scalability, security, and performance across the app and API stack.
• Ensure the consumer app platform is secure, cost-efficient, and production-ready, enabling self-service, repeatable, and trusted engineering workflows.
• Oversee AI adoption and exploration strategy to keep KMP, Python, and Java platforms aligned with leading tools and integrations.
• Partner with Product, Design, Security, and Data Science to support evolving business needs and represent the team in planning and roadmap discussions.

Requirements

• 3+ years of engineering management experience, ideally across mobile or distributed API domains.
• Familiarity with mobile and API infrastructure (AWS preferred) and analytical/SDLC tools (e.g., Mixpanel, Runway).
• Hands-on experience or strong familiarity with mobile and API development best practices: serverless, event-driven, REST, microservices, MVI, and Clean architecture.
• Ability to scale teams, elevate systems, and solve ambiguity in fast-changing, high-growth conditions.
• Experience improving quality, performance, speed of execution, and engineering standards.
