Senior Field Engineer (Automotive)

TL;DR

Senior Field Engineer (Automotive/Embedded Systems): Leading field issue identification and resolution for vehicle mechatronic hardware and embedded control systems with an accent on improving customer satisfaction and reducing warranty exposure. Focus on analyzing field data, managing cross-functional issue resolution, and implementing corrective actions across global vehicle programs.

Location: Hybrid (Warren, Michigan) — Must report to the Cole Engineering Center Podium a minimum of three days per week

What you will do

• Analyze field data including DTCs, warranty claims, and customer feedback to create actionable resolution plans.
• Identify, prioritize, and partition hardware vs. software issues using internal dashboards and GM systems.
• Represent VSEE QRD in escalation forums, QRD reviews, and SMT Core PDT calls.
• Plan and implement target sufficiency actions for temporary containment and permanent corrective closure.
• Manage breakpoints for service, plant, and OTA actions while forecasting warranty performance targets.
• Coordinate global QRD alignment and communicate technical solutions to engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Systems, or related).
• Experience with vehicle systems, hardware, or embedded control systems, including SW release cadence and OTA.
• Proven experience in program management and analyzing warranty, DTC, or field performance data.
• Ability to lead cross-functional issue resolution efforts in a fast-paced environment.
• Must not require immigration sponsorship now or in the future.
• Not eligible for relocation benefits.

Nice to have

• Experience in Quality, Reliability & Durability (QRD) or field quality roles.
• Familiarity with QRD tools such as SI, TrackerGart, QDAP, DAS, GWM, or MERS.
• Knowledge of hardware vs. software issue partitioning and corrective-action processes.
• Experience working with global teams, suppliers, and automotive OEMs.
• Interest in leveraging AI-enabled tools, automation, or analytics to improve QRD efficiency.
