Field Evaluations Engineer

Location: Home-based position in Denver or Colorado Springs, Colorado; other US locations may be considered based on experience. The candidate must be located close to an airport due to high travel requirements.

What you will do

• Independently determine project scope, develop investigation plans, and define specifications for complex field evaluations.
• Conduct frequent on-site product evaluations, including some international travel.
• Communicate with clients and authorities having jurisdiction about technical issues, UL procedures, requirements, timelines, and samples.
• Plan, conduct, and supervise major code- and regulatory-related projects.
• Analyze product compliance with standards and resolve complex engineering and client issues.
• Develop requirements, special test methods, and electrical test equipment for products outside existing standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, industrial technology, manufacturing technology, or physics from an ABET-accredited program.
• Eight years of directly related experience.
• Expert knowledge of the NEC, building codes, field evaluations, regulatory requirements, and conformity standards.
• Experience applying project-handling concepts to complex, new, or modified products.
• Experience conducting electrical tests and using electrical test equipment.
• Strong written, verbal, client-interfacing, and computer skills, with the ability to work remotely and travel frequently.

• Background in hazardous locations.
• Experience with hazard-based engineering concepts.
