TL;DR
Project Controls Specialist (Cost Estimating and Scheduling): Developing preliminary cost estimates, project budgets, and schedules for engineering and client capital projects with an accent on conceptual-phase planning, cost analysis, and schedule development. Focus on identifying project risks, analyzing critical paths and dependencies, and preparing reliable cost and schedule reports for stakeholders.
Location: On-site in Evansville, Indiana, USA. The position is performed in the office and includes frequent driving, flying, walking, standing, and light lifting.

What you will do
- Develop preliminary cost estimates from conceptual designs, project requirements, drawings, specifications, historical data, and industry benchmarks.
- Identify cost risks and optimization opportunities, support project budgets and financial plans, and maintain estimating databases and tools.
- Develop and maintain preliminary project schedules, including critical paths, milestones, dependencies, and resource allocation plans.
- Analyze project timelines, recommend mitigation strategies, and update schedules as project details evolve.
- Prepare and present cost estimate and schedule reports with detailed breakdowns and assumptions.
- Lead project-team activities, coordinate with related disciplines and stakeholders, and ensure accurate, high-quality deliverables.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of applicable industry experience.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or relevant industry experience.
- Proficiency with cost-estimating tools such as Aspen Tech Capital Cost Estimator or In-Plant Estimator, RSMeans, or CostX.
- Proficiency with scheduling software, particularly Oracle Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
- Ability to read drawings and technical specifications and apply industry standards such as AACE.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, communication, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.

- Construction field experience managing budgets and schedules.
- Exposure to construction logistics, means, and methods.
