TL;DR
Manufacturing Process Engineer (Automotive Manufacturing): Improving and supporting manufacturing operations in a Tier 1 automotive environment with an accent on process optimization, automation, equipment launches, and Lean manufacturing. Focus on troubleshooting production issues, developing PFMEAs and standard work, analyzing process data, and implementing sustainable improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

Location: Danville, Kentucky, United States; plant-floor work and flexibility to support off-shift or weekend activities are required.

What you will do

  • Troubleshoot daily manufacturing issues and implement sustainable process improvements.
  • Lead and participate in Kaizen events, cost-reduction activities, and plant strategic projects.
  • Develop, optimize, and document machining, assembly, and automation processes.
  • Create and maintain Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEAs, Standard Work, and Work Instructions.
  • Support new equipment launches through specification, procurement, installation, and validation.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, quality, and leadership to resolve process issues and improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on manufacturing experience; automotive experience is preferred.
  • Experience implementing process improvements, new technologies, automation, or production process changes.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, continuous improvement, 8D, 5 Whys, and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to perform statistical analysis, interpret process data, read blueprints and GD&T, and use AutoCAD or similar design software.
  • Understanding of machining, assembly processes, manufacturing systems, safety, ergonomics, and environmental requirements.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Tier 1 automotive suppliers.
  • Familiarity with Industry 4.0 tools, including data collection, process monitoring, and automation systems.
  • Experience supporting equipment launches and capital projects.
