What you will do

• Own design execution from concept through production, including CAD, prototyping, DFMEA, tolerance analysis, and validation testing.
• Design and develop complex mechanical mechanisms, analyzing wear and failure modes to ensure reliability.
• Build and test prototypes in the lab to iterate and refine engineering solutions.
• Lead DFM and DFA reviews with manufacturing partners, primarily in China, to mitigate production risks.
• Manage and develop a team of 2-4 direct reports, providing feedback and overseeing hiring as the category grows.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners in Product Management, Industrial Design, Operations, and Quality.

Requirements

• 7-10 years of mechanical or product design engineering experience with a track record of mass production.
• 2+ years of experience managing engineers.
• High-level proficiency in SolidWorks or Creo for leading CAD reviews.
• Practical, non-theoretical experience with DFMEA, tolerance analysis, and DFM.
• Expertise in injection-molded plastic part design and tooling.
• Must be based in or able to work onsite in Needham, MA and willing to travel internationally to Asia and Europe.

Nice to have

• Strong background in appliance design.
• Experience in consumer goods or household appliances.
• Familiarity with electromechanical systems, including motors, sensors, and PCBAs.
