Principal Software Engineer (Quantum Computing)

Location: Boulder, Colorado, or Austin, Texas; hybrid with at least 3 days per week in the office

Salary: $165,000–$200,000 base salary annually, plus annual bonus and equity

What you will do

• Build and test embedded firmware and software for high-speed software-defined radios, imaging pipelines, scientific instrumentation, and real-time digital feedback loops.
• Design and optimize deterministic, low-latency software for quantum hardware, including device drivers, Linux kernel modules, and custom subsystems.
• Architect real-time execution strategies across Linux and RTOS environments, balancing determinism, throughput, and scalability.
• Develop orchestration layers coordinating GPUs, FPGAs, and custom electronics for synchronized quantum control operations.
• Prototype and iterate with Rust, Python, C++, and CUDA.
• Collaborate with quantum theorists, hardware engineers, and platform software teams to deliver production-ready control software.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 8 years of relevant postgraduate professional experience.
• Proficiency in C++, Python, Rust, or Go, with experience using NVIDIA CUDA toolchains.
• Knowledge of computer architecture, signal processing, algorithm development, quantum error correction, distributed systems, or compilers.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, coordination, multitasking, and interpersonal skills.
