Summer 2027 Internship - Embedded Software Engineering (Nuclear Enrichment)

Location: Los Angeles, CA, United States

Salary: $32–$46 per hour, plus a monthly housing stipend and overtime eligibility.

hirify.global develops and operates low-cost uranium enrichment services in the United States to support nuclear fuel production for advanced reactors and critical industries.

What you will do

• Develop safety-critical embedded software for industrial enrichment systems.
• Build low-level firmware in C, C++, Rust, and/or PLCs to control actuators, process high-speed sensor data, and execute fault-tolerant control logic.
• Support control architectures, state machines, and data acquisition systems for mission-critical hardware.
• Contribute to automated build, test, and validation infrastructure.
• Integrate firmware with hardware, bring up new systems, and troubleshoot electromechanical issues with cross-functional engineering teams.
• Debug embedded systems using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and other laboratory instrumentation, then support system testing and commissioning.

Requirements

• Current undergraduate or graduate student pursuing Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar degree.
• Development experience in C, C++, Golang, Python, or Rust.
• General understanding of embedded or low-level systems development and strong engineering fundamentals.
• Ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary engineering environment.
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.

Nice to have

• Experience with data acquisition systems, electrical hardware troubleshooting, or PCBA bring-up.
• Coursework or project experience in digital signal processing.
• Exposure to low-level communication protocol debugging and PLC/SCADA systems.
• Experience in a fast-paced engineering or project environment requiring resourcefulness and an entrepreneurial approach.
