Fire Consultant - Houston

Location: Hybrid — Sugar Land, Texas area, United States. Relocation assistance is available.

Base salary: $75,000–$85,000 annually, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Determine the origin and cause of fires and explosions.
• Perform scene examinations, including debris removal, sifting, and scene reconstruction.
• Interview witnesses, fire department personnel, and investigating officials.
• Collect public records and conduct product research.
• Communicate technical opinions verbally and in writing.
• Testify in depositions and court and meet with insurance and legal industry clients.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; a college degree is preferred.
• Nationally recognized origin-and-cause certification, such as IAAI or NAFI certification.
• Strong understanding of NFPA 1033 and NFPA 921.
• Knowledge of insurance policies, subrogation, and liability issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency with PC applications.
• Ability to clear fire and explosion debris, reconstruct scenes, work at heights or in confined and hazardous environments, lift heavy objects, and work additional hours when needed.
