Fire Consultant (Forensic Engineering)

Location: Must be based in or able to relocate to the Sugar Land, TX area (Hybrid role).

Salary: $75,000 – $85,000 plus performance-based bonus.

What you will do

• Determine the origin and cause of fires and explosions through scene examinations and reconstruction.
• Conduct interviews with witnesses, fire department personnel, and investigating officials.
• Collect public records and perform detailed product research.
• Communicate technical findings effectively in both verbal and written formats.
• Provide expert testimony in depositions and court proceedings.
• Engage with insurance and legal industry clients to support subrogation and liability assessments.

Requirements

• Nationally recognized origin and cause certification (IAAI or NAFI) required.
• Strong understanding of NFPA 1033 and 921 standards.
• Experience with insurance policies, subrogation, and liability issues.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including debris removal, working at heights, and in confined or hazardous environments.
• Must not have been disqualified as an expert witness.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.

Nice to have

• Experience working on the private side of forensic investigations.
• Prior experience providing expert testimony.
• College degree.
