Design Systems Designer and Architect (AI): Establishing the visual and interaction foundation (Cornerstone) for an AI-driven construction platform with an accent on component architecture, design tokens, and brand cohesion. Focus on designing production-ready systems, defining governance for AI-native environments, and ensuring high standards of accessibility and performance.
Location: Hybrid in New York City, NY (3 in-office days per week). Open to candidates open to relocation.
Salary: $200K – $275K + Equity

What you will do
- Build and refine "Cornerstone," the core design system comprising components, patterns, and tokens for AI-enabled experiences.
- Develop a multi-year roadmap for the design system in collaboration with engineering and product leadership.
- Ship production-ready components and define governance, contribution, and deprecation models for an AI-native environment.
- Integrate accessibility, responsiveness, and performance into the system foundation from the start.
- Create comprehensive documentation, onboarding materials, and reference resources.
- Mentor other designers and advocate for system integrity during planning and design reviews.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in product design with significant ownership of design systems in multi-product environments.
- Strong command of component architecture and design tokens.
- Proven track record of collaborating closely with frontend engineers to ship production-grade systems.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating high craft, visual cohesion, and accessibility standards.
- Proficiency in Figma, Notion, and Linear.
- Must be based in or willing to relocate to New York City.
