What you will do
- Lead the mechanical design of custom automated manufacturing equipment using 3D CAD.
- Design robotic end-of-arm tooling, material handling systems, fixtures, and production cell layouts.
- Apply engineering first principles including mechanics and kinematics to analyze system behavior and solve novel challenges.
- Integrate mechanical, electronic, and pneumatic components into unified production systems.
- Lead equipment commissioning, startup, and production ramp-up, owning the resolution of mechanical issues.
- Create detailed mechanical documentation packages, including BOMs and assembly procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in the from-scratch design and commissioning of custom automated tooling.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD for mechanical design (CREO, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
- Working knowledge of control systems, robotics, and automated industrial equipment.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, national, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted refugee/asylee.
Nice to have
- Advanced CREO parametric modeling including top-down design and family tables.
- Experience with ANSYS or similar simulation software for structural and finite element analysis (FEA).
- Familiarity with PLC, robot, and CNC programming for industrial control systems.
- Ability to interpret and review electrical drawings.
- Experience recommending design modifications to support Design for Automated Manufacturing (DfAM).
