What you will do
- Plan and execute specialty process development and nanofabrication trials within the cleanroom.
- Support the transfer of qualified processes to leading-edge foundry partners.
- Provide design rules, manufacturability guidelines, and DFM guidance to design engineering.
- Prepare designs for tape-out, including DRC sign-off, waiver management, and process readiness verification.
- Optimize yield through design-process co-optimization and investigation of excursions in the lab and with external partners.
- Collaborate across design, verification, and operations teams to communicate technical results to program leadership.
Requirements
- Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of hands-on cleanroom experience in lithography, dry/wet etching, thin-film deposition, and metrology.
- Solid grounding in integrated photonics device physics, optical component design, and semiconductor fabrication.
- Experience with PIC design, layout, and simulations.
- English proficiency required.
- Must be eligible to access export-controlled information under U.S. export control laws (EAR).
Nice to have
- Proficiency in photonic simulation tools like Lumerical and code-based PIC layout tools like Synopsys.
- Experience working with external PDKs and design rule frameworks.
- Hands-on experience in tape-out support or foundry logistics within fab/fabless environments.
- Experience with optical device characterization and testing.
- Knowledge of German.
