AI Data Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco or Remote (International)

What you will do

• Build AI agents capable of safely exploring data, forming hypotheses, and generating actionable recommendations.
• Develop retrieval infrastructure and evaluation loops to ensure AI systems query the data warehouse reliably.
• Automate the data lifecycle by building self-healing pipelines and automated dbt model generation and validation.
• Create AI-powered analysis tools to interpret A/B test results and draft ship/no-ship recommendations.
• Build internal data products and self-serve AI interfaces to replace ad hoc stakeholder requests.
• Own the full lifecycle from identifying high-leverage problems and prototyping with LLMs to production deployment.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in data science, analytics engineering, or data engineering.
• Production-oriented Python ability and deep SQL proficiency for complex analytics judgment.
• Hands-on experience building with frontier LLMs, AI agents, RAG systems, and evaluation loops.
• Fluency in data pipeline tools (dbt) and warehouse schema design.
• Strong product sense to turn prototypes into adopted internal products.
• Ability to work in the US or as an international employee based on regional market standards.

Nice to have

• Experience with Snowflake, semantic layers, or metadata systems.
• Proven track record of building internal tools, Slack bots, or developer productivity products.
• Strong background in experimentation, including metric design and statistical interpretation.
• Early-stage startup experience.
