Data Engineer (Analytics)

Location: Must be based in or able to work from DC, Austin, Chicago, or New York (Hybrid)

Salary: $149,000 – $180,000 per year (Tiered by location)

What you will do

• Design, build, test, and monitor dbt models within a scoped domain.
• Translate ambiguous requests from Marketing and Product teams into actionable technical requirements.
• Write design documentation and break down complex tasks for team collaboration.
• Implement monitoring and alerting to ensure data reliability and proactive issue resolution.
• Participate in support rotations and maintain comprehensive runbooks and schema documentation.
• Coach junior engineers through code reviews and daily technical guidance.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in data or analytics engineering.
• Fluency in SQL, including window functions and complex joins.
• Experience owning dbt models in version-controlled repositories.
• Proficiency in Python for orchestration and data transformations.
• Strong understanding of data modeling tradeoffs (dimensional vs. flat tables).
• Ability to communicate technical decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with Snowflake or comparable cloud data warehouses.

Nice to have

• Experience with marketing, growth, or lifecycle data (e.g., Braze, Iterable, Segment).
• Familiarity with modern orchestrators like Dagster or Airflow.
• Knowledge of CI/CD for data and cost-conscious warehouse design.
• Experience supporting ML workflows or AI-ready data structures.
