Location: Onsite at the hirify.global office in Chicago or Downers Grove, Illinois, or Jacksonville, Florida, United States

Salary: $111,000–$186,700 per year, plus an eligible annual discretionary bonus

What you will do

• Provide principal-level technical leadership for enterprise Microsoft SQL Server architecture, administration, security, performance, and operational support.
• Design, install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain SQL Server environments across development, test, staging, and production.
• Manage high availability and disaster recovery solutions, including Always On Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances, replication, backups, restores, failover testing, and recovery planning.
• Optimize database performance through query tuning, execution plan analysis, indexing, statistics management, configuration tuning, monitoring, and workload analysis.
• Support SQL Server platforms across on-premises, hybrid, and AWS environments, and lead migration, modernization, and consolidation initiatives.
• Develop automation with PowerShell, Python, Terraform, Infrastructure as Code, and database administration tools; mentor database professionals and support major incidents.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of hands-on enterprise database administration experience, with a strong focus on Microsoft SQL Server.
• Advanced knowledge of SQL Server Database Engine, Always On Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances, replication, backup and recovery, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting SQL Server across on-premises, hybrid, and AWS cloud platforms, including EC2, RDS, VPC, EBS, IAM, KMS, CloudWatch, AWS Backup, Route 53, S3, and Elastic Load Balancing.
• Experience with database security, access controls, encryption, masking, auditing, vulnerability remediation, and compliance requirements.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer, AppDynamics, SQL Server Extended Events, and SQL Server Profiler.
• Ability to work onsite at a hirify.global office in Illinois or Florida; a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information technology, information systems, or a related field is preferred, with equivalent experience considered.

Nice to have

• Microsoft Azure Database Administrator, Azure Database Fundamentals, MCSA, MCSE, AWS Certified Database, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or other database and cloud certifications.
