Senior Database Administrator (AWS)

Location: Must reside in one of these U.S. states: California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, or West Virginia. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Salary: $150,000–$165,000 USD per year.

What you will do

• Administer RDS MySQL and PostgreSQL database engines in the AWS Cloud.
• Install, configure, maintain, patch, and upgrade database instances, including parameter and option groups.
• Manage database security, IAM authentication, VPC security groups, permissions, encryption, and SSL/TLS.
• Develop and maintain database objects, monitor performance, and optimize PostgreSQL and MySQL settings.
• Manage backup strategies, database lifecycle processes, high-availability architectures, replication, and database services.
• Support application teams and stakeholders with database changes, sizing recommendations, impact analysis, schedules, and resource requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or another IT field; engineering, mathematics, or science degrees may be accepted.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience.
• Expertise administering MySQL 5.7 or 8.0 and/or PostgreSQL 12–16 in an enterprise environment.
• Significant experience with Amazon RDS or Aurora, Linux-based database environments, and open-source database internals.
• Experience with Database Lifecycle Management, data scrubbing, data masking, data comparison and review, and robust database authentication.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Suitability/Public Trust Background Clearance.

Nice to have

• AWS and/or Azure experience and relevant certification.
• PostgreSQL extensions such as PostGIS and pg_stat_statements, or MySQL storage engines.
• RDS Multi-AZ, Global Databases, AWS KMS, AWS DMS, and Schema Conversion Tool experience.
• Familiarity with Git, Ansible Tower, Artifactory, Jenkins, EC2, S3, and AWS Migration Services.
• Experience working in traditional and agile project models.
