TL;DR
Lead Materials Engineer (Additive Manufacturing): Leading materials development and qualification across LPBF, DED, and polymer applications with an accent on developing parameters, material properties, and qualification documentation. Location: On-site in Los Angeles, CA. Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or eligible for ITAR authorizations.
Salary: $150,000 - $220,000

What you will do
- Lead materials development and qualification for LPBF, DED, and polymer additive processes.
- Collaborate with process and applications engineers to develop parameters for various material and equipment configurations.
- Design and execute DOEs, test plans, and statistical data analysis to establish material properties.
- Author material specifications and supporting qualification documentation.
- Evaluate and implement novel materials from initial selection through validation and implementation.
- Partner cross-functionally with quality, supply chain, and design teams.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Materials Science, Welding Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related engineering discipline.
- 4+ years of experience in materials and processes engineering for metal alloys, focusing on laser powder bed fusion (LPBF).
- Strong knowledge of aerospace alloys, including nickel-based, copper, aluminum, and stainless steel.
- Experience in material testing, metallurgical analysis, or failure investigations.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and material requirements.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or eligible for ITAR authorizations.
Nice to have
- Advanced degree in a relevant field.
- Background in aerospace, aviation, defense, or energy industries.
- Familiarity with NADCAP, AS9100, and ASTM/AMS additive manufacturing specifications.
- Knowledge of fracture control classification and MMPDS frameworks.
- Experience with in-situ process monitoring for laser powder bed fusion.
