Controller

Location: Fully remote; candidates should be located in the Eastern or Central time zone, or maintain substantial working-hour overlap with teams and partners across the U.S. and U.K.

Salary: $190,000–$230,000 base, depending on experience, plus bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Lead the full accounting function across monthly close, general ledger, reconciliations, reporting, consolidation, payables, receivables, inventory accounting, and technical accounting.
• Assess the current team, systems, workstreams, and risks, then improve accuracy, accountability, and efficiency.
• Bring audits, covenant reporting, reconciliations, tax-related workstreams, and other external deliverables current.
• Establish a reliable, documented, and well-controlled close process with clear timelines and ownership.
• Own relationships with auditors, accountants, tax advisors, and other external partners.
• Build the roadmap for accounting processes, controls, systems, documentation, team structure, and future transaction readiness.

Requirements

• Significant progressive accounting experience, ideally as a Controller or Head of Accounting.
• Experience improving an accounting function in a growing, changing, or operationally complex organization.
• Knowledge of inventory accounting, revenue recognition, accruals, financial reporting, internal controls, and U.S. GAAP.
• Meaningful experience with NetSuite and with leading external audits.
• Experience supporting financing, investment, acquisition, sale, or other major transactions.
• Located in the Eastern or Central time zone, or able to maintain substantial working-hour overlap with teams and partners across the U.S. and U.K.

Nice to have

• CPA certification.
• Experience in a private-equity-backed company.
• Background in consumer products, retail, beauty, apparel, food and beverage, or another inventory-based business.
