Retail Industry Controller

hirify.global operates My Financial Partner, a wholly owned subsidiary providing fractional Controller, accounts payable, and general ledger services to more than 70 companies across its portfolio.

What you will do

• Advise presidents and employee-owners of multiple retail businesses on financial and operational decisions.
• Lead full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, inventory accounting, revenue recognition, and payroll.
• Manage month-end and year-end close activities, reconciliations, accruals, fixed assets, and deferred revenue adjustments.
• Oversee inventory valuation, shrinkage reduction, multi-location stock, seasonal adjustments, and a 13-week cash-flow forecast.
• Prepare trial balances, variance analyses, dashboards, KPIs, budgets, and quarterly planning materials.
• Improve accounting systems, POS integrations, reporting workflows, internal controls, and documented retail finance procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
• 5+ years of experience as a Controller or in a senior accounting role.
• Proven retail accounting experience, preferably with multi-location operations.
• Experience with small or medium-sized businesses; fractional or outsourced accounting experience is beneficial.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, POS systems, and Excel.
• Working knowledge of US GAAP and the ability to work independently in a fast-moving remote environment.
